Markings: The left side of the barrel is marked “Made in New Haven Conn, US of America, Winchester Proof Steel/ Winchester Trademark Model 94 25-35 Win.” The upper tang is marked “Winchester Trade Mark, Made in USA”. The serial number is marked on the bottom of the receiver.

Sights / Optics: The front sight is a beaded blade dovetailed into a base integral to the barrel. The rear sight is a spring leaf sight with elevator that has been dovetailed into the barrel The top tang is drilled, tapped and filled for a tang sight (none included).
Stock Configuration & Condition: The stocks are a two piece smooth walnut, straight grip, straight comb, with a steel shotgun buttplate. The LOP measures 13 1/4″ from the front of the trigger to the back of the buttplate. There are light scratches, handling marks, and compression dents throughout. There are no chips or cracks. Overall, the stocks are in about Very Good condition.

Bore Condition: The bore is semi bright and the rifling is well defined. There is no erosion. There is pitting scattered in the bore. There is some fouling in the bore. In this writer’s opinion the bore rates 7/10.
Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 95% of its metal finish. There are light scratches, handling marks, and a few spots of corrosion staining. The markings are clear. The screws are sharp. Overall, this rifle is in about Very Good condition for a C&R.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. The hammer has a half-cock safety and the lever safety functions properly. The trigger is crisp. We did not fire this rifle. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.

Our Assessment: The Winchester Model 1894 is one of the most iconic American sporting rifles ever produced, and this 1940 carbine falls squarely within the desirable pre-64 era of Winchester Repeating Arms Company production. With its 20 inch round barrel and full-length tubular magazine, this Model 94 reflects the classic saddle-ring carbine profile that became synonymous with American deer camps and small game hunting in the first half of the twentieth century. Chambered in .25-35 WCF, one of the earliest smokeless sporting cartridges offered in the 1894, this rifle represents an increasingly scarce configuration compared to the more common .30-30 variants.
The rifle retains approximately 95 percent of its original blued finish, showing only light scratches, handling marks, and a few spots of minor corrosion staining. The barrel and receiver markings remain clear and well defined, and the screws are sharp. The bore is semi-bright with well-defined rifling, no erosion, scattered pitting, and some fouling, rating 7 out of 10. The two-piece walnut stocks feature a straight grip, straight comb, and steel shotgun buttplate, with a 13 1/4 inch length of pull. The wood shows light scratches, compression dents, and honest handling wear but no cracks or chips, rating in Very Good condition. The tang has been drilled and tapped and the holes filled for a tang sight, though none is currently installed.
Mechanically, the lever action functions correctly. The hammer retains its half-cock safety notch, and the lever safety operates properly with a crisp trigger pull. As a 1940 production pre-64 Winchester Model 94 carbine in the less common .25-35 WCF chambering, this rifle stands as a solid and well-preserved C&R example of a classic American lever action.
