Stock Configuration & Condition: The hardwood stock has a traditional grip, metal nose caps, a stacking loop, two sling loops and a metal buttplate with hinged door for storage in the butt. The buttplate has almost all of its finish and the checkering is semi dulled. The wood shows a minimal amount of depressions, scrapes, and scratches especially for a non refinished gun. The LOP measures 13” from the front of the trigger to the back of the buttplate. The handguard wood also has minimal scratches and depressions. There is one small chip in the left hand side of the grip, one in the right side of the comb and one on the right side of the toe. There are no cracks. The wood on this rifle rates in about Very Fine overall condition.
Type of Finish: Parkerized
Finish Originality: Original
Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is very well defined. There is minor visible erosion for about one ½ inch in the center third of the bore. In this writer’s opinion the bore rates 8/10.
Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 98% of its finish. The barrel shows a small orange scratch, there is wear on the friction surfaces of the bolt, action and op rod. With this particular example with everything being original it is hard to call out any other wear as all of the wear is appropriate for this gun. The markings are clear and the screw heads are sharp. Overall this rifle is in Fine to Very Fine condition as Original considering its age.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We did not fire this rifle. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance requirements.
Box, Paperwork & Accessories: This rifle includes a green canvas sling, Class 1 type 1 rifle sleeve, box certificate of authenticity, manual, order forms, receipts, grading sheet, and paperwork.
