Stock Configuration & Condition/ Grip: The stock is one piece smooth walnut, three barrel bands, capped forend, straight grip, straight comb, and smooth steel buttplate. The LOP is 13 3/4″ from trigger to buttplate. There are scratches and compression dents throughout. There are no chips or cracks. Overall this stock is in Very Good to Excellent condition.

Bore Condition: The bore is bright. The rifling is shiny. There is no erosion. There is minor fouling and storage dust. In this writer’s opinion this bore rates 9/10.
Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 95% of its original metal finish. There are light corrosion stains and scratching. There is light handling and operational wear. The screw heads are sharp. The markings are clear. Overall this rifle is in Very Good to Excellent condition.
Mechanics: This rifle is in functional condition. The hammer holds full and half cock. The nipple is free. The firing channel is clear. We did not fire this rifle. As with all used guns a full cleaning may be necessary to meet your standards.

Our Assessment: This Pedersoli U.S. 1861 Springfield Rifle in .58 caliber is a quality modern reproduction of the classic Civil War-era percussion rifle-musket. Manufactured in 2014, it follows the traditional full-length military pattern with a 40″ barrel, single-shot percussion muzzleloading action, three barrel bands, capped forend, straight-grip walnut stock, smooth steel buttplate, and arsenal bright metal finish. The barleycorn-style front sight and included sling add to its martial presentation, making it appealing for black powder collectors, historical reenactors, display, or traditional muzzleloading use.
Condition is very good to excellent overall. The rifle retains approximately 95% of its original metal finish, with light corrosion staining, scratching, and minor handling and operational wear. The screw heads are sharp, the markings are clear, and the bore is a strong point, rated 9/10 in the writer’s opinion, with a bright interior, shiny rifling, no erosion, and only minor fouling and storage dust. The walnut stock is also in Very Good to Excellent condition, showing scratches and compression dents throughout but no chips or cracks.
Overall, this Pedersoli U.S. 1861 Springfield presents as a well-preserved and desirable reproduction percussion rifle-musket with strong mechanical and cosmetic appeal. The hammer holds at full and half cock, the nipple is free, and the firing channel is clear, all positive indicators of functional condition. While it has not been test-fired and should be cleaned and inspected to the buyer’s standards before use, the rifle appears to be a solid example with an excellent bore, clean stock, strong remaining finish, and good suitability for collection, reenactment, or careful black powder shooting.
