Model: Lyman Sharps Carbine 1878 140th Anniversary Model. Streamlined version of an 1878 Sharps.  

Serial Number: 140-123 #123 of 140 total made. 

Year of Manufacture: 2018 (CT date code). 

Caliber: 30-30 Win.  

Action Type: Single Shot Breech Loading, Falling Block, with set triggers.

Markings: The left side of the barrel is marked “140-123 DP SHARPS 24″ cal. 30/30 Win PEDERSOLI – ITALY / 18”. The left side of the receiver is marked “CT 140-123 IT/18 LYMAN 140 years”. The right side of the receiver “THE LYMAN GUN SIGHT CORP. 1878-2018 LYMAN 140 years”. The right side of the barrel “LYMAN MIDDLETOWN, CT.”. The bottom of the block “140-123 IT/18”. The butt plate “LYMAN”.    

Barrel Length: 24″ light round profile. The rifle weighs 7lbs. 

Sights / Optics: The front sight is a Beech combination sight dovetailed to the barrel. The rear sight is a Lyman No. 2 tang sight.     

Stock Configuration & Condition: The furniture set is a two piece smooth walnut. The stock is a straight hand grip, straight comb and has a smooth metal engraved butt plate. The forend is a smooth splinter style forend. The LOP measures 13.5? from the front trigger to the back of the butt plate. The wood shows minor scattered compressions and very light surface level lines. There are no chips or cracks. The right side of the comb and the left side of the forend show some light scratches. The butt plate shows no notable marks or wear. Overall the wood is in Very Good+ condition.   

Type of Finish: The barrel is blued and the receiver, lever and hammer and butt plate are coin finished. 

Finish Originality: Original

Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is sharp. There is no visible erosion. The crown is clean showing no fouling. There are no scratches on the feed tray. If this rifle was fired outside of factory testing it was very little. In this writer’s opinion the bore rates 10/10. 

Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 99% of its metal finish. The barrel shows very few scattered very minor marks. The lower tang shows the rub mark from the lever. The screw heads are sharp. The markings are clear. Overall, this rifle rates in about Excellent condition.

Mechanics: This rifle has double set triggers, which function correctly. The action functions correctly. We have not fired this rifle. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance requirements. 

Box, Paperwork & Accessories: This rifle includes the original box, manual, sight manual, info sheet and sight case with inserts and screws.
