The LOP measures 13” and 14″ from the front of the triggers to the rear of the buttplate respectively. Overall, the stocks rate in Excellent condition given the age. There are no cracks. There is a small chip on the tip of the forend. The checkering is attractive and crisp. There are some compression lines and scratches scattered about.
Type of Finish: Case Hardened Receiver, Damascus Barrels
Finish Originality: Original
Bore Condition: The bores are bright. There is some minor erosion scattered about. In this writer’s opinion the bore rates 8/10 for Antique.
Overall Condition: This shotgun retains about 70% of its metal finish. The Damascus patterning is exceptionally strong and complete. The Case color can be seen on the water table and on a few parts of the receiver, but other than that the coloring has gone mostly mute. The barrels have taken a beautiful reddish patina color. The screw heads are tool marked but retain strong serviceable slots. The markings are clear. Overall, this shotgun rates in Fine condition for antique.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. The barrels have no play to the receiver. We have not fired this shotgun. As with all used firearms, thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance requirements. We do not recommend shooting Damascus Steel Shotguns with smokeless powders.
