Our Assessment: The Olympic Arms OA-93 is one of the most recognizable AR-pattern pistols of the late 20th century, developed during a period when manufacturers were experimenting with compact rifle-caliber handgun configurations. The OA-93 used a distinctive recoil system mounted above the barrel, eliminating the need for a traditional buffer tube and giving the pistol its unmistakable profile. Chambered in 5.56 NATO, one of the most influential military rifle cartridges of the modern era, the OA-93 offered rifle-caliber performance in a compact and innovative package. This example remains in very good plus overall condition, retaining approximately 98% of its original finish with light handling wear, scattered scratches, minor marring in the charging channel, and small spots of surface oxidation on the gas block. The bore remains excellent, showing bright surfaces and sharp rifling with only faint fouling present, supporting its 9.5 out of 10 rating. The tubular aluminum handguard and polymer grip remain in very good to excellent condition with only minor handling wear visible and no structural damage present. The pistol also includes two aluminum magazines and paperwork.
Altogether, this Olympic Arms OA-93 represents an interesting and increasingly collectible chapter in AR-pattern pistol development. Its compact 6 1/2-inch barrel, bufferless configuration, top rail, tubular handguard, and distinctive four-prong muzzle device make it stand apart from conventional AR pistols. As examples become harder to find, the OA-93 remains a strong representation of Olympic Arms’ innovative approach to compact 5.56 NATO handguns. -R.E.
