Markings: The right side of the receiver has a Konigsberg crown and “1898 / 110”. The bolt and stock serials are matched to the receiver. There are various small proofs throughout.
Barrel Length: 20.5″
Sights / Optics: The front sight is a beaded blade dovetailed into a ramped base fixed to the barrel. The rear sight is an adjustable U-notch sight set into a barrel mounted base.
Stock Configuration & Condition: The stock is a two piece arsenal-refinished wood with finger grooves, semi-pistol grip, straight comb, and steel buttplate. There are compression marks throughout but no cracks, chips, or areas of finish loss. The name “Smith” is scrawled in the butt in one inch high lettering. The LOP measures 13.5″ from the front of the trigger to the back of the buttplate. The stock rates in about Very Good overall condition as C&R.
Type of Finish: Blued/ ’In the White’
Finish Originality: Original.
Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is sharp. There is no erosion in the bore. In this writer’s opinion, this bore rates 9.5/10.
Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 10% of its metal finish. The barrel has gone to patina and has light scratches and some corrosion pitting. The receiver and bolt have moderate to heavy thinning and light patina. The action has moderate wear. There are light impact marks on the trigger guard. The screw heads exhibit light to moderate tooling with useable slots. The markings are clear. Overall this rifle rates in about Very Good condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We did not fire this rifle. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance requirements. The action cycles, chambers, and ejects 6.5×55 smoothly. The trigger is crisp.

Our Assessment: This Norwegian Krag-Jorgensen is a Rare Model 1895 Cavalry Carbine. It was made the Kongsberg Arsenal back in 1898 which was the first year of production. It has deep markings on the receiver which include the Kongsberg Arsenal “crowned K” and the “1898” date of manufacture. The rifle has matching numbers on the receiver, bolt handle, rear sight, rear sight base, barrel band, trigger guard, and buttplate.
This 1895 Cavalry Carbine is chambered in 6.5x55mm which is a flat shooting Military cartridge. This Krag is an Antique so No FFL is required.
