Barrel Length: 20″, Round
Sights / Optics: The front sight is a beaded blade dovetailed to a hooded, serrated, ramped base fixed to the front of the barrel. The rear sight is a “U”-notch elevator sight dovetailed to the rear of the barrel; the notch is fine-adjustable for elevation. The left of the receiver is drilled, tapped and filled for a receiver sight (none present).
Stock Configuration & Condition: The stocks are 2-piece smooth wood with banded forend, straight grip, straight comb, and checkered black Winchester buttplate. The right of the buttstock has a raised metal decoration with a US Cavalryman on an American flag pennant. The wood shows no notable wear or damage, only light handling marks. There are no chips or cracks. The decoration has verdigris. The LOP measures 13 1/2″ from the front of the trigger to the back of the buttplate. The plate has some stubborn white residue, but little in the way of wear. Overall, the stocks are in Fine-plus condition.

Bore Condition: The bore is mostly bright with sharp rifling. There is no erosion, but there are some spots of stubborn, dried grease. In this writer’s opinion, the bore rates 9 or 10 out of 10.
Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 90% of its metal finish. The balance is mostly in minor oxidation on the right of the receiver, barrel and magazine. There are a few other spots of minor oxidation. There is a raised metal US Cavalry decoration on the right of the receiver, the decoration has verdigris. Otherwise, there are only light handling marks. The screw heads are sharp. The markings are clear. Overall, this rifle is in Very Good condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We have not fired this rifle. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.
Box, Paperwork & Accessories: This rifle comes in a wood US Cavalry presentation case with an assortment of factory paperwork including manual and commemorative paperwork including certificate.
Our Assessment: The Winchester 94 in .30-30 may be synonymous with “deer rifle” in America, but it’s also part of the zeitgeist of the American West. What better rifle to commemorate the men who guarded over the expanding frontier, the US Cavalry, than a Winchester? This is one of a limited series commissioned by Northstar Commemoratives in 1978, complete with decorations on the receiver and stock, as well as a nice presentation case.
