Our Assessment: The Navy Arms Chinese TU-711 Broomhandle Mauser is a reproduction of the iconic Mauser C96, tailored to meet the demand for a practical and modernized version of the historic pistol. Manufactured in China and imported by Navy Arms, the TU-711 closely resembles the original C96 Broomhandle but incorporates some differences to suit contemporary standards. Chambered in the widely available 9mm Parabellum (9x19mm), this model provides a more practical and cost-effective option for shooters compared to the rarer and expensive 7.63×25mm Mauser ammunition used in original C96 pistols. The TU-711 retains the distinctive design of the Broomhandle Mauser, with its integral box magazine located in front of the trigger, a long barrel, and the iconic broom-shaped grip that gives the pistol its nickname. The 9mm chambering makes it more accessible for modern shooters while offering improved stopping power over the original caliber. The pistol is fed via 10-round stripper clips, mimicking the loading process of the classic C96.

Today, the Navy Arms TU-711 is appreciated for its nostalgic value and utility as a shooter-friendly alternative to an original C96. While it lacks the prestige and collectible value of a genuine Mauser, it offers a way to experience the unique ergonomics and design of the Broomhandle at a fraction of the cost, particularly with the convenience of modern 9mm ammunition. For those interested in the aesthetics and handling of the C96 but seeking a practical option for shooting, the TU-711 serves as an excellent choice. -R.E.
