Stock Configuration & Condition: The grip panels are two-piece checkered walnut. There is minor handling wear present. The checkering is sharp. There are no chips or cracks. Overall, the grip panels are in about Excellent condition.

Bore Condition: The bores are bright with sharp rifling in the upper barrel. There is no erosion in the bore. In this writer’s opinion the bores rate 9.75/10.
Overall Condition: The revolver retains about 98% of its metal finish. There is light handling and storage wear. There are light scratches and some fine corrosion freckling. The screw heads are sharp. The markings are clear. Overall this revolver is in Fair condition due to mechanics, see below. If repaired this revolver would rate in Very Good condition.
Mechanics: The action functions incorrectly. The cylinder stop is sticking back at full cock, affecting timing. We did not fire this pistol. As with all previously owned firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.

Our Assessment: The Navy Arms Cavalry LeMat is a faithful reproduction of one of the most distinctive percussion revolvers ever designed, combining a nine-shot .44 caliber revolver cylinder with a central 20-gauge smoothbore barrel. Manufactured by Pietta for Navy Arms, this 1990 example features a 6 3/4″ barrel, single-action percussion operation, integral loading lever, and checkered walnut grips. Its unique dual-barrel system and imposing profile make it one of the most recognizable and sought-after black powder revolver reproductions.
The original LeMat revolver was designed by Dr. Jean Alexandre LeMat in the 1850s and became closely associated with Confederate officers during the American Civil War. Its nine-shot cylinder provided greater capacity than contemporary revolvers, while the central shotgun barrel offered a powerful close-range option. Although original LeMats are rare and highly collectible, quality reproductions by Pietta and Navy Arms have introduced this remarkable design to modern black powder shooters and collectors while preserving the distinctive appearance and operation of the original.
