Our Assessment: This is a Colt Woodsman 3rd Series pistol, made in 1976. It has a 6″ round barrel, adjustable sights and a claw magazine release characteristic of the 1st and 3rd Series. John M. Browning designed “Colt’s Automatic Pistol, Caliber .22”, with the design refined slightly by Colt employees George Tansley and F.C. Chadwick before it was released in 1915. The Woodsman stayed in production until 1977. This example has been engraved by Master Engraver Michael Dubber with beautiful scroll and gold inlays. The factory markings are cleverly incorporated with the rampant colt on the left of the frame in molded gold. The result is a beautiful target pistol that will make a great addition to any collection. Please see our photos and good luck!
