Markings: The top of the receiver is marked with the Mauser banner logo (interrupted by the front scope base). The left side of the receiver is marked with crown over “B”, crown over “U”, “121221” and “MAUSER-WERKE A.-G. OBERNDORF A.N.”. The left side of the barrel shank is marked “121221” and with “459”, crown over “B”, crown over “U” and crown over “G” arranged in a square. The left side of the barrel is marked “PATRONE 22 LONG RIFLE” and the right is marked “D.R.P.D.R.G.M.”. The top of the bolt handle shank is marked with crowned “B” and “U” and the bottom is marked “21221”. The bottom of the barrel forward of the forend is marked “Ch51″ and ES350”. The right of the barrel is marked from 0-9 (front to rear) along the side of the rear sight mounting groove, the “5” is replaced by “N” (the “normal” location for a rear sight). The right of the stock has a Mauser cartouche. The front face of the forward scope-base is marked “121 221”.

Sights / Optics: The front sight base is a checkered, ramped base fixed to the front of the barrel with a quick-change blade mounted from the front and grooved for a hood (no hood present). The barrel is grooved over the forend for installation of a rear sight, but none is present. The receiver is also grooved for mounting optics. Bases have been installed for a quick-detach mount with a Zeiss Zielklein scope with post reticle. The top of the scope is engraved “Joh. Springer’s Erben, Wein”. The mounts are “see-through” and iron sights could be used if a rear sight were installed. There is a socket for mounting an aperture sight in the top of the wrist behind the receiver (none present).
Stock Configuration & Condition: The stock is a one-piece checkered walnut with capped pistol grip, straight comb, checkered black hard rubber Mauser buttplate and a sling swivels front and rear. There is an initial plate in the belly marked “G.R.F. / jr”. The stock has some scattered light nicks and scratches. The checkering is well defined. There are no chips or cracks. The LOP measures 14″ from the front of the trigger to the back of the buttplate. The plate has light wear, mostly around the edges, with well defined checkering and logo. Overall, the stock is in Fine condition.

Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is sharp. There is no erosion in the bore. In this writer’s opinion, the bore rates 10 out of 10.
Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 98% of its metal finish. The action shows light operational wear. Otherwise, there are only light handling marks. Much of the finish shows a plum hue. The screw heads range from sharp to lightly tool marked with strong slots. The markings are clear. Overall, this rifle is in Fine-plus condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We did not fire this rifle. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.
Box, Paperwork & Accessories: This rifle comes with the installed scope and a single 5-round magazine.
Our Assessment: This is a Mauser Ms 350 B Target model, a .22 Long Rifle chambered magazine-fed target rifle produced in inter-war Germany by Mauser-Werke Oberndorf. The Ms 350 B Target was the top of the line smallbore rifle Mauser made at the time, but it saw limited sales, only about 8,600 were made. The German target shooting market preferred the Es (single-shot) models to magazine-fed.
This example, without import marks, was likely either purchased by an American target shooter prior to WWII or was one of the many brought back by American military personnel after the war. This rifle has some interesting features including a quick-detach mounted Zeiss scope with serial-matching mount, provision for an aperture sight in the top of the wrist and a dimpled bolt handle for scope clearance. The rifle is in Fine-plus condition with wear consistent with responsible use over the last 90 years. The rifle retains the great majority of its metal finish and has a great bore. This will be a shooter for sure and should bring generations’ more enjoyment. That said, it would also be a good get for the Mauser collector. Please see our photos and good luck!
