Mechanics: The action functions correctly. This pistol features a left side frame mounted thumb safety and grip safety. This is the Swiss Pattern Luger, with a straight front grip frame strap and grip safety. The action locks back after the last round is fired. This pistol looks to have seen minimal use, if any, outside of the factory and was well taken care of in the interim. We did not fire this handgun. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.

Box, Paperwork & Accessories: This pistol comes with its original Mauser Interarms hinge-lid blue and white factory box, which has the last four numbers of the serial number, correct barrel length and caliber reflected on the end labels. Also included is a single blued magazine with black base, an owner’s manual, serial-matching test target, brass cleaning rod, takedown/magazine loading tool and blue plastic Mauser medallion hanging from the trigger guard.

Our Assessment: This is a Mauser-Werke made American Eagle Luger 1929 Swiss Pattern with its original box, one magazine and other goodies. These pistols were made from 1970 to 1978 and are on the ATF C&R list, making this a great collector’s item, especially in its high condition. The bore is bright with sharp rifling and no erosion, the metal surfaces retain about 98% of their blue and straw-colored finish and the walnut stocks are free from any notable damages. The Swiss pattern features a straight front strap grip frame and grip safety, setting it apart from the dozens of other variations that exist. It is also the 6″ barrel version, while most we have seen have been the shorter 4″ barrel. If you are a fan of the revolutionary Borchardt system or Luger variations, this example is sure to spark interest. Please see our pictures and good luck!
