Markings: The left shoulder of the barrel is marked “THE MARLIN FIREARMS CO., NORTH HAVEN, CT., U.S.A. / MOD. 1894 – MICRO-GROOVE BARREL CAL.357 REM. MAG” and at the rear with a “JM” proof. The upper tang is marked with the serial number.

Barrel Length: 18.5”

Sights / Optics:  The front sight is a brass beaded blade dovetailed at the front of the barrel. The rear sight is a semi-buckhorn elevator sight with a U-notch that is dovetailed to the barrel. The top of the receiver is drilled, tapped, and filled in four places for mounting a scope. Behind that mounted to the receiver is a Williams peep sight fully adjustable.

Stock Configuration & Condition:  The stocks are two-piece smooth walnut with a straight grip, straight comb, checkered black hard rubber Marlin buttplate, nose cap, and Marlin “bullseye” in the belly that has been removed.  There are some scattered scratches and scuffs throughout with some more notable shallow scrapes on the buttstock toward the buttplate. There are no chips or cracks. The LOP measures 13.5” from the front of the trigger to the back of the buttplate. The plate shows some faint marks but the checkering is sharp. The left side of the plate has a small loss. Overall, the stocks rate in about Very Good condition.

Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling sharp. There is some very faint erosion but for the most part the bore is exceptionally clean.  In this writer’s opinion the bore rates 9/10.

Overall Condition:  This rifle retains about 97% of its metal finish. The action shows light operational wear. The screw heads range from disfigured to sharp but all retain serviceable slots. There are a few small scratches on the barrel exterior and on the receiver.  The markings are clear.  Overall, this rifle is in about Fine condition.

Mechanics: The action functions correctly and smoothly.  The hammer has a half cock safety position. We have not fired this rifle. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.
