Sights / Optics: The front sight is a beaded blade dovetailed into the barrel. The rear sight is a spring leaf U notch with elevator dovetailed to the barrel. The left side of the receiver is drilled and tapped for a peep sight. The top of the receiver is drilled and tapped for a scope base.
Stock Configuration & Condition: The stock is two piece smooth walnut, capped forend, straight grip, straight comb, and checkered Marlin buttplate. The LOP is 13 1/2″ from trigger to buttplate. There is minor handling wear. There are a few light scratches. There are no cracks. There is a chip that appears to be a manufacturer defect on the upper right side of the forend. Overall this stock is in Very Good to Excellent condition.

Bore Condition: The bore is bright. The rifling is sharp. This rifle does not appear to have been shot past the factory. In this writer’s opinion this bore rates 10/10.
Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 98% of its original finish. There are light handling marks. There are light scratches scattered throughout. The screw heads are sharp. The markings are clear. Overall this rifle is in Excellent condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We did not fire this rifle. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance requirements.

Our Assessment: This Marlin Model 1894 CL Classic Carbine is a desirable late-1980s to early-1990s production lever-action rifle chambered in the classic .25-20 W.C.F. cartridge. The 22″ barrel, tubular magazine, smooth walnut stocks, capped forend, straight grip, straight comb, and checkered Marlin buttplate give it the traditional 1894 CL profile. The rifle retains its factory iron sights with a beaded front blade and elevator-adjustable U-notch rear sight, while the receiver is drilled and tapped for both a peep sight and scope base, offering useful flexibility for small-game, varmint, or recreational shooting.
Condition is Excellent overall, with the rifle retaining about 98% of its original blued finish. The metal shows only light handling marks and scattered light scratches, while the screw heads remain sharp and the markings are clear. The smooth walnut stock set is in Very Good to Excellent condition, showing minor handling wear and a few light scratches, with no cracks. The chip on the upper right side of the forend, noted as appearing to be a manufacturer defect, is the primary wood condition issue but does not significantly detract from the rifle’s otherwise clean presentation. The included box and manual add to its completeness and collector appeal.
The bore is outstanding, remaining bright with sharp rifling and showing no indication of meaningful use beyond factory testing, rating 10/10 in this writer’s opinion. Mechanically, the action functions correctly, though the rifle has not been test fired by us. As with any used firearm, a thorough cleaning and inspection are advisable before use. Overall, this is a highly attractive Marlin 1894 CL in .25-20 W.C.F., offering excellent bore condition, high original finish retention, desirable factory accessories, and strong appeal to both Marlin collectors and shooters seeking a clean example in a classic small-game lever-action chambering.
