Magnum Research Lone Eagle Pistol .22/250 Rem Cannon Action Hunting Handgun
SOLD FOR: $845
WOA#: WY230105WY004
Our Assessment: The Lone Eagle is a single-shot handgun produced by Magnum Research, the company known for producing “eagle” named handguns like the Desert Eagle and Baby Eagle. The Lone Eagle is designed to handle centerfire rifle cartridges and uses a rotary action, making it unique compared to other handguns. The Lone Eagle was originally marketed as a silhouette shooter and hunting handgun, and was available in a wide range of calibers, including .22 Hornet and .30-06 Springfield. The gun could be purchased in parts, with buyers often opting to purchase additional barreled actions to change calibers. The Lone Eagle was relatively inexpensive, ranging from $375 to $500, but has appreciated in value over the years due to its accuracy and reliability. The rotary breech action is what gives the Lone Eagle its “cannon” designation and results in a shorter handgun without a traditional bolt mechanism. The gun must be cocked with a lever at the front of the stock before it can be fired, and it has a safety mechanism above the trigger to protect the shooter once it is cocked. The action is opened and closed by twisting the rear breech knob, and the ejector will kick out spent casings when the action is rotated open. The Lone Eagle is designed to be a hunting rifle that identifies as a pistol. The track record of extreme accuracy meant that many were mounted with scopes for long range marksmanship purposes and hunting. If you are looking for a collectable firearm that competes with the Thompson Contender and Remington XP100, then this pistol will make a perfect addition to that arsenal.
