Our Assessment: The IMI Galil Model 332 represents one of the more desirable early commercial Galil variants imported into the United States by Magnum Research during the early 1980s. Developed from Israel Military Industries’ AK and Finnish Valmet-influenced Galil system, the rifle uses a robust long-stroke gas piston and rotating bolt while incorporating features intended for military field use. The .308 Winchester/7.62 NATO Galils are substantially less common than their 5.56mm counterparts, and the Model 332 ARM configuration is particularly distinctive with its folding bipod, carry handle, ribbed wooden handguard, tubular folding stock, and full-length barrel. This example retains its early Magnum Research import markings and matching rear sight, giving it strong originality and collector interest. This rifle remains in Very Good Plus condition, retaining approximately 97% of its original black enamel and parkerized finish. The exterior shows light handling wear and scattered scratches, while the markings remain clear, the screw heads are sharp, and the pins are undamaged. The bore is bright with sharp rifling and no visible erosion, though faint stubborn fouling remains throughout, rating 9/10 in this writer’s opinion. The ribbed wooden handguard, polymer pistol grip, carry handle, folding tubular stock, and bipod show only light handling wear and remain in Very Good Plus condition. Mechanically, the action functions correctly.
For collectors of original Israeli military-pattern rifles, an early Magnum Research-imported .308 Galil ARM is a particularly significant acquisition. The Model 332 combines the heavy-duty 7.62 NATO chambering with the Galil’s full ARM equipment package and predates the later Action Arms import era, giving it a distinctly early commercial character. The matching rear sight, strong bore, high remaining original finish, folding bipod, carry handle, and four included magazines make this a notably complete example. As an original IMI-made, pre-ban .308 Galil in the correct Model 332 ARM configuration, this rifle has substantial appeal among collectors of Israeli arms and early imported military-style semi-automatic rifles. -R.E.
