Our Assessment: This LRB Arms M1A built in the Scout Squad rifle configuration is a modern take on the classic M14 design, offering a blend of precision, power, and tactical versatility. LRB Arms is renowned for producing high-quality M14 rifles and components, including receivers that are highly sought after by enthusiasts who value authenticity and durability in M14-style builds. This particular M1A configuration, modeled after the Scout Squad, combines traditional aesthetics with modern enhancements for a versatile shooting platform.
At the heart of the rifle is a Criterion 18-inch barrel chambered in .308 Winchester. Criterion barrels are known for their exceptional accuracy and craftsmanship, making them a popular choice for shooters. The 18-inch length provides a balance between maneuverability and ballistic performance, making the rifle suitable for medium-range engagements without sacrificing too much velocity or energy from the .308 cartridge. This barrel length also reduces the overall weight and length of the rifle compared to full-length M1A models, making it more practical for field use and close-quarter applications. The rifle features an original M14 stock, which adds a historical and authentic touch to the build. The M14 stock is made of hardwood, providing a robust and classic look, while also offering durability and stability. Another notable feature is the vented upper handguard, which aids in heat dissipation, particularly during rapid or sustained firing. It also gives the rifle a distinctive look compared to the standard M1A configuration. This rifle also includes the cleaning kit with oiler, rod, brush and M1A tool.
In summary, the LRB Arms M1A Scout Squad rifle with an 18-inch Criterion barrel, original M14 stock, and vented upper handguard is a unique combination of traditional M14 aesthetics and modern functionality. This setup is perfect for shooters who appreciate the historical significance of the M14 platform but desire the enhancements needed for practical use in today’s shooting disciplines. PLEASE don’t let the authentic exterior look fool you, under the hood this is a workhorse of a rifle, a total sleeper, in basically like new condition.
