Stock Configuration & Condition: The stocks are two-piece checkered walnut featuring a finger-grooved forend, a semi-pistol grip with grip cap, an adjustable Monte Carlo style comb and an adjustable buttpad. The wood shows light handling and storage marks. There is a small ding in the wood finish on the right side of the belly. The checkering is sharp. There are no chips or cracks. The LOP currently measures 14 1/2” from the front of the trigger to the back of the buttpad. The buttpad has some minor scuffing along the edges, primarily at the toe. The stocks are in Excellent overall condition.
Type of Finish: Blue, Bright Stainless and Matte Stainless
Finish Originality: Original
Bore Condition: The bore is mostly bright. There is a bit of light erosion in the rear of the bore. In this writer’s opinion and for the age, this bore rates an 8 or 9 out of 10.
Overall Condition: This shotgun retains about 97% of its metal finish. The balance of the finish shows some scattered light scuffs and minor operational wear. The operational wear on the barrel is from the forend which is concealed when assembled. The pins are unmarred. The markings are clear. Overall, this shotgun is in Fine Plus condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. The barrel locks tightly to the receiver with no play. We did not fire this firearm. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance requirements.
Box, Paperwork & Accessories: This shotgun comes with a steel carrying case that has a green fabric lining and the shotgun’s identifiers monogrammed under the lid. It also comes with a replacement release trigger, a replacement comb cheekpiece and a set of Gracoil wrenches for the adjustable buttpad
Our Assessment: Manufacturing only 340 Shotguns a year at its height in the early 1980s, the Ljutic facility made these guns with pride and precision. Known for their futuristic “Space Guns”, Ljutic holds a very special place in American gun-making history. This Ljutic SLE Pro looks like it knows its way around a Trap field, showing a bit of wear consistent with being used for its intended purpose but appears very well preserved and cared for. The buttstock comes with an adjustable monte carlo comb and the gun retains a great bore and strong mechanics. With its 34″ ported/vent-ribbed barrel and comb/trigger alternates, this shotgun ought to have many, many more rounds of top-notch competition left in it. Known not only for their quality but also their ability to retain value have made these highly sought after as collector pieces and/or as investments for many. Always an interesting addition to a collection, with only a few thousand guns made since their founding in the 1950s, Ljutic shotguns make for a great conversation piece. Please see our photos and good luck in your bidding!
