Sights / Optics:The front sight is a bladed post set atop a ramped base and between 2 protective ears. The rear of the sight is a U notched blade attached to an escalator assembly. The rear sight also has protective wings.
Volley sights are along the left side of the stock. The front volley sight dial and base are set into the left side of the stock at the barrel band. The rear volley sight is a flip up aperture attached to the top of the stock collar.
Stock Configuration & Condition: The stocks are 4 piece smooth wood with a straight grip, barrel band, nose cap assembly with sight wings & bayonet lug, stacking loop, 2 sling loops, scallop for the front volley sight, and a metal buttplate. The wood shows numerous scratches and compression marks. The wood has been oiled. The LOP measures 13 inches from the front of the trigger to the back of the buttplate. The buttplate shows discoloration, light surface erosion, and wear. The stocks rate in about Very Good overall condition.

Finish Originality: Refinished
Bore Condition: The muzzle and grooves are gray. The rifling is deep. There is erosion near the muzzle and in the grooves. In this writer’s opinion, this bore rates 7 out of 10.
Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 90% of its metal finish as refinished. Small scratches show through the new finish. The nosecap has cleaned surface erosion showing through the new finish. The metal shows scrapes, areas of discoloration from oxidation, and light thinning on the leading edges. The action shows operational wear. The screw heads show use. The main markings are well defined. Some of the small markings are lightly faded. Overall, this rifle rates in about Very Good condition.
Mechanics: The action Does function correctly. This firearm has not been tested, these are used items. While we have performed a mechanical function check and noted any discrepancies we cannot guarantee the suitability of this firearm.
Box, Paperwork & Accessories: The rifle comes with a 10 round magazine that has had its feed lips repaired. It shows dents and surface erosion. It appears to function correctly.
Our Assessment: This Lee–Enfield MkI* was produced by the Birmingham Small Arms Company (B.S.A. Co.) back in 1910. This rifle was eventually issued to the Armed Forces of New Zealand and is marked accordingly on the right side of the stock collar.
The rifle has been rebuilt and refinished. The numbers on the receiver and bolt handle match. There is no visible import mark.
This LE I has nice markings, a bolt mounted charging guide, an intact magazine cutoff, and intact volley sights. It will add nicely to an Enfield collection.
