Our Assessment: The French Model 1892 “Lebel” revolver is an iconic military sidearm, used extensively by French forces from the late 19th century through both World Wars. Designed to replace earlier Chamelot-Delvigne revolvers, it was innovative for its time with its swing-out cylinder design that facilitated quicker reloading compared to contemporary revolvers. While the 8mm French Ordnance cartridge was not particularly powerful, this revolver was well-built, reliable, and remained in service well into the mid-20th century.

This particular example has been refinished, giving it a fresh appearance while still maintaining its historical integrity. It retains a strong bore and fully functional mechanics, making it a great candidate for both collectors and enthusiasts of early military sidearms. Given its antique status, it is a historically significant piece that represents a crucial era of European military armament. Whether for display or as an addition to a French military collection, this Model 1892 is a great find.  Please take a look at our high-quality photos and good luck on your bids.-C.M.
