Our Assessment: This is a nice contemporary example of a late 18th century French-style flintlock rifle. The lock plate is marked “Maubeuge” which is most likely a reference to the Maubeuge Arsenal in France, which was one of the two primary French arsenals of the Ancien Régime. This would make a fine addition to any European contemporary collection. Please see our photos for a better understanding of the rifle and its condition.
