Markings: “L Cordray”, “133” written in script on the top of the barrel. Two 4-legged animals engraved onto the left side plate. 4-sided star engraved onto the bottom of the trigger guard.

Stock Configuration & Condition/ Grip: The stock is a striped walnut with brass fittings. There are scratches, scuffs, and compression marks throughout. The finish on the buttstock has a light, cloudy chalk-like residue on it. About halfway up the right side of the forestock there’s a larger 0.6” vertical scratch. Overall, the stock is in Very Good Condition.

Bore Condition: The bore is bright with no signs of pitting, though there is some light corrosion near the muzzle. A thorough cleaning is recommended.
Overall Condition: This flintlock fowler is in Good Condition. The metal surfaces have scratches and handling marks throughout. The brass buttstock has multiple dark spots as well as light pitting.The brass trigger guard finish is tarnished, particularly on the rear section. The lock plate, hammer, and pan all have surface rust. The frizzen face is scuffed from use and its body has multiple spots of surface rust. Nearly the entirety of the barrel exterior is covered in light surface rust and patina. There is no pitting visible above the stock line.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We did not fire this rifle. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance requirements.

Our Assessment: This flintlock fowler was made by gunsmith Larry Cordray of southeastern Ohio. The distinctive coloring on the stock and the engravings make this fowler standout. The bright bore and quick action should make this a great shooter. This would be a wonderful addition to any American contemporary flintlock collection.
