Markings: The barrel is marked, “D.S. POLICE SPECIAL / MODEL 37-FEATHERLIGHT-12 GA-2 3/4 CHAMBER-PROOF TESTED / ITHACA GUN. CO. INC. ITHACA,N.Y.-MADE IN U.S.A.-ROTO FORGED”. The left side of the receiver is marked, “LOS ANGELES POLICE DEPARTMENT”, and the right is marked, “71-065”.

Barrel Length: 18”

Choke: Fixed, Improved Modified

Sights / Optics: The front sight is a triangular orange plastic blade set into a barrel mounted base. The rear sight is a square notch dovetailed to a barrel mounted base.

Stock Configuration & Condition: The stock is a two piece walnut set with a ribbed pump, semi-pistol grip, straight comb, and vented rubber recoil pad with a second one sleeve over it. The buttstock has been replaced. There are light handling marks throughout. The LOP measures about 15” from the front of the trigger to the back of the buttpad. Overall, the stocks are in about Very Good condition.

Type of Finish: Parkerized

Finish Originality: Original

Bore Condition: The bore is bright. There is minor fouling down the length. There is no erosion. In this writer’s opinion the bore rates 9/10.

Overall Condition: This shotgun retains about 65% of its metal finish. There are some scattered scuffs, nicks, and scratches. There is some operation wear on the mag tube and action bar. The barrel is loose. There is thinning on the leading edges and most of the finish has thinned/worn away around the chamber, receiver, magtube, and action bar. The screw heads are lightly tool marked with serviceable slots. The markings are clear. Overall, this shotgun is in about Very Good condition.

Mechanics: The action functions correctly. The shotgun ejects out the bottom of the receiver. We have not fired this shotgun. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.
