Our Assessment:  This is a beautiful Model 82 chambered in .17 Hornet. Kimber originally produced the Model 82 rimfire which was so successful that demand exploded and the model 84 was introduced with centerfire calibers. Using the new Model 84 actions, Kimber specialized in making heavier-weight, small-caliber center-fires for benchrest shooting and varmint hunting.  After the Model 84 was a success, the later large caliber Model 89 was born and they were soon overwhelmed with production demand and went through financial turmoil. They later reformed but did so in Yonkers, New York after a brief name change to Kimber of America while still located in Clackamas, Oregon, with different backers and business interests. Collectors hold the Clackamas Oregon Kimbers in high regard, after picking it up you will see why. It should be hitting the bullseye for years to come with proper care and will be a great addition to a collection of top-tier bolt action rifles. Please see our photos and good luck! – L.S.
