Our Assessment: Kimber of Oregon’s Model 84 rifles are well-regarded small-action sporting rifles, with the Clackamas, Oregon markings adding collector appeal for those who appreciate the earlier Kimber production era. This 84 Classic is chambered in 6x45mm, also known as 6mm-223, a .223 Remington-based cartridge necked up to accept 6mm projectiles, popular with handloaders and varmint hunters for its mild recoil, efficient performance, and use of 6mm bullets in a compact bolt-action platform. This example features a 22″ barrel, drilled and tapped receiver for optics, internal magazine with hinged floorplate, checkered walnut stock with steel buttplate, and includes its original serial-number-matching box along with 1″ Talley scope rings. The Kimber of Oregon provenance, uncommon 6x45mm chambering, attractive walnut, and included factory box should appeal to collectors, handloaders, and shooters looking for a refined lightweight varmint or sporting rifle.
