Sights / Optics: The front sight is a triangular orange plastic blade set into a barrel mounted base. The rear sight is a square notch dovetailed to a barrel mounted base.
Stock Configuration & Condition: The stock is a two piece walnut set with a ribbed pump, semi-pistol grip, straight comb, and vented rubber recoil pad. There are scratches and compression marks throughout. There are a few light chips in the pump serrations. There are no cracks. The LOP measures about 13 3/8” from the front of the trigger to the back of the buttpad. Overall, the stocks are in about Very Good condition.

Bore Condition: The bore is bright. There is minor fouling down the length. There is no erosion. In this writer’s opinion the bore rates 9 out of 10.
Overall Condition: This shotgun retains about 95% of its metal finish. The balance of the finish shows handling and storage wear. There are scratches and thinning throughout. The magazine tube has scratches and thinning from operation wear. There are deep scratches on the left side of the receiver. The screw heads are sharp. The markings are clear. Overall, this shotgun is in about Very Good condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. The shotgun ejects out the bottom of the receiver. We have not fired this shotgun. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.

Our Assessment: The Ithaca Model 37 is one of America’s classic pump-action shotguns, known for its smooth action, bottom-ejection system, and long service life in sporting, police, and defensive roles. The D.S. Police Special configuration was built for duty use, pairing the proven Model 37 action with a compact barrel, rifle-style sights, and rugged Parkerized finish. This example is a 12 gauge Police Special chambered for 2 3/4” shells, fitted with a 20” Improved Cylinder barrel, orange front blade sight, square-notch rear sight, tube magazine, and two-piece walnut furniture with ribbed forend and vented recoil pad.
This Model 37 D.S. Police Special is in Very Good condition overall, retaining about 95% of its Parkerized metal finish with handling and storage wear, scratches, thinning, operational wear on the magazine tube, and deep scratches on the left side of the receiver. The walnut stocks rate in Very Good condition, showing scratches and compression marks throughout, with a few light chips in the pump serrations, but no cracks. The bore is bright with minor fouling, no erosion, and rates 9 out of 10 in this writer’s opinion. The action functions correctly, and the shotgun ejects from the bottom of the receiver, a desirable Model 37 feature for both right- and left-handed shooters. This shotgun should appeal to Ithaca collectors, law-enforcement shotgun collectors, and buyers looking for a handy, classic American pump gun with police configuration and strong remaining condition.
