The right side of the barrel is marked “——10 GA. MAGNUM——” / “FOR 3 1/2 IN. MAGNUM SHELLS ONLY” and a proof mark. The right side of the receiver is marked with the serial number.

Sights / Optics: The front sight is a fixed white bead atop the vent rib. The vent rib is serrated for glare reduction.

Stock Configuration & Condition: The stocks are two piece walnut with semi-pistol grip, fluted straight comb, a Pachmayr rubber buttpad, and sling stud at the forend of the mag-tube, as well as near the toe on the buttstock. The stocks have some scattered light nicks, scuffs and scratches. There are no chips or cracks. The LOP measures 14 1/8″ from the front of the trigger to the back of the buttpad. Overall, the stocks are in Excellent condition.

Bore Condition: The bore is bright. There is no erosion. There is fouling in the barrel. In this writer’s opinion the bore rates 9/10.

Overall Condition: This shotgun retains about 98% of its metal finish. There are light handling marks and scratches along the barrel. There is a slight patina forming under the vened-rib. The pin heads are unmarred. The markings are clear and legible. Overall, this shotgun rates in Excellent condition.

Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We have not fired this shotgun. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.

Our Assessment:  This Ithaca Mag-10 is a serious big-bore semi-automatic shotgun built around the hard-hitting 10 gauge 3 1/2″ Magnum shell. Introduced during the era when dedicated long-range waterfowl guns were at their peak, the Mag-10 became known as a heavy, powerful autoloader intended for geese, turkey, and other applications where maximum payload and reach were desired. The design was significant enough that Remington later acquired the rights and continued the concept as the SP-10. This example has the classic purpose-built configuration with a 32″ vent-rib barrel, fixed Full choke, white bead front sight, walnut stocks, sling studs, and barrel markings specifying use with 3 1/2″ Magnum shells only.

This shotgun remains in Excellent overall condition, retaining about 98% of its original blue finish with only light handling marks and scratches along the barrel, plus a slight patina beginning beneath the vent rib. The bore is bright with fouling but no erosion, rating 9/10 in this writer’s opinion. The walnut stocks are also Excellent, showing only scattered light nicks, scuffs, and scratches with no chips or cracks, and the action functions correctly. The included paperwork, serial-matching factory box lid, and Styrofoam insert add to the package. With its powerful chambering, long Full-choke barrel, excellent condition, and original box components, this Ithaca Mag-10 should appeal to waterfowl hunters, turkey hunters, Ithaca collectors, and shooters looking for one of the classic American 10 gauge magnum autoloaders.
