Markings: The tang is marked “SH35468”.The top of the barrel is marked “CABELA’S INC. – SIDNEY, NE.”. The bottom of the barrel is marked “SH35468 dp PEDERSOLI-SHARPS 30” / MADE IN ITALY cal. 45/70 cat.8124.” The receiver is stamped with several proofs including the date code “CL”.
Barrel Length: 30” Heavy Octagon Barrel.
Sights / Optics: This rifle is mounted with a spirit level Globe front sight with a post insert dovetailed to the barrel. The rear sight has been removed however the barrel is dovetailed, drilled, tapped, and plugged for a rear sight. This rifle also includes a tang mounted Soule Style micrometer rear sight with a Hadley style multi aperture wheel eyepiece and a long range staff.
Stock Configuration & Condition: The furniture set is a two piece walnut. The buttstock is a checkered semi pistol grip with curved lower tang, straight comb, with a blued metal buttplate. The handguard is a smooth Schnabel forend. The LOP measures 14″ from the front trigger to the back of the buttplate. The forend has a small depression on the left side and some very very minor marks. The stock shows a few minor lines including the mark from the eye disc in the comb. The metal buttplate also has a few very minor marks where the comb meets the plate. There are no chips or cracks. The furniture rates in about Very Fine to Excellent overall condition.
Type of Finish: The barrel is matte black, the buttplate is blued, and the receiver, lever and hammer are color case hardened.
Finish Originality: All Original
Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is sharp. There is no visible erosion. There are some lines in the grooves from use. In this writer’s opinion the bore rates 9/10.
Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 99% of its metal finish. This rifle shows almost no wear. The barrel has some surface lines in the matte finish. The receiver shows no signs of wear. The screw heads are undamaged sharp. The markings are clear. Overall, this rifle rates in about Excellent condition.
Mechanics: This rifle has double set triggers, which function correctly. The action functions correctly. We have not fired this rifle. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance requirements.
