Our Assessment: The Hardballer was one of the more distinctive stainless-steel developments of the 1911 platform. The Longslide variant extends the barrel and slide to 7″, two inches longer than a standard Government Model, providing a substantially longer sight radius and giving the pistol its characteristic profile. Contemporary AMT advertising specifically promoted the Longslide for its longer sighting plane, increased weight and altered balance. IAI succeeded the original AMT operation in 1989 and continued producing pistols based on AMT designs until the operation was acquired by Galena Industries in 1998.
This IAI Hardballer Longslide remains in Excellent overall condition, retaining approximately 99% of its original stainless finish with only light handling and operational wear. The rubber wraparound grips remain in Very Good condition, the bore is bright with sharp rifling and rates 9.5/10, and the action functions correctly. The pistol does not include a magazine. Its 7″ barrel, adjustable target sights, stainless construction, and uncommon IAI manufacture make this an especially recognizable variation of the Hardballer series.
