Our Assessment: The Heckler & Koch USP was developed in the early 1990s as a robust service pistol incorporating a polymer frame, modified Browning-type locked-breech action, polygonal rifling, and HK’s modular trigger system. The full-size USP45 followed as the large-caliber member of the family and uses a 4.41″ barrel with standard 10 and 12 round magazine configurations. This example is an early stainless-slide USP45 configured as Variant 1, providing conventional DA/SA operation with a frame-mounted control lever serving as both manual safety and decocker. The stainless-slide configuration gives this pistol the distinctive two-tone appearance associated with early commercial USP production.

The stainless metal rates at about 90%, with scattered rub marks, scratches, moderate operational wear, and more notable scuffing at the front of the slide, likely from an impact or drop. The black polymer frame rates in Good condition with moderate handling wear, scattered scuffs and scratches, and oxidation present on two frame pins, but no chips or cracks. Both sights also show light oxidation. The bore is bright with sharp polygonal rifling and heavy fouling, but no erosion, rating 9/10. The action functions correctly, and the markings remain clear and complete. The pistol includes one 10-round magazine. Overall, this stainless-slide Heckler & Koch USP45 V1 rates in Good condition and remains an attractive early example of HK’s full-size .45 Auto USP.
