Mechanics: When the slide is racked slowly it hangs up for a brief second about half way through the length of travel. When the slide is racked quickly this does not happen. We believe this pistol will function correctly when shooting. This pistol features a gas-delayed delayed blowback system. The pistol’s action is cocked by squeezing the fore strap of the grip frame, delivering a smooth, short trigger pull. The pistol has a heel magazine release. We did not fire this handgun. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.

Magazine Quantity & Condition: This pistol includes 3 magazines. The magazines are all in Very Good+ condition.

Box, Paperwork & Accessories: This pistol includes 3 x magazines, manual and HK P7 box.

Our Assessment: This Heckler & Koch P7 PSP pistol is chambered in 9mm, manufactured in 1981 and marked “BMI” indicating issue to the Bundesministerium des Innern (German Federal Ministry of the Interior). The P7 was developed by HK in the 1970s following the shift by German police and government agencies toward modern 9mm service pistols. The PSP (“Polizei Selbstlade Pistole”) was the original police configuration of the P7 and was widely adopted by German law enforcement and federal agencies, including units under the Ministry of the Interior responsible for internal security and federal policing duties.

The P7 is famous for its unique squeeze-cocking system and gas-delayed blowback operation. A front strap cocking lever must be squeezed to cock the striker, allowing the pistol to be carried safely with a round chambered yet instantly ready when gripped. When released, the pistol automatically de-cocks, providing an extremely safe and intuitive manual of arms. The gas-delayed blowback system uses propellant gas tapped from the barrel to slow the slide’s rearward movement, resulting in a very low bore axis and exceptional accuracy with minimal recoil. These features made the P7 highly respected among German police and federal security services, and today the P7 PSP remains one of the most innovative and collectible service pistols ever produced.
