Our Assessment: The Heckler & Koch HK 940 is a rare and exceptionally well-crafted semi-automatic rifle, featuring H&K’s renowned roller-delayed blowback system in a .30-06 Springfield chambering. Designed as a civilian sporting rifle, the HK 940 offers military-grade reliability and accuracy while maintaining a sleek, traditional hunting rifle aesthetic. With its longer barrel and precision-machined components, this rifle delivers outstanding performance for long-range shooting, hunting, and collection purposes. One of the standout features of the HK 940 is its roller-delayed action, a system that allows for smooth cycling, reduced recoil, and enhanced durability, even when firing the powerful .30-06 cartridge. Unlike H&K’s military-style rifles, the HK 940 is outfitted with refined wood furniture, blending modern engineering with a classic sporting rifle appearance. The integrated diopter sights and crisp trigger provide exceptional accuracy, while the longer sight radius and cold hammer-forged barrel contribute to its renowned precision and ballistic performance.

Its limited production numbers, premium construction, and chambering in .30-06 make it a standout among semi-automatic sporting rifles. It is an excellent addition to any collection, offering both functionality and investment value in a high-performance sporting rifle. -R.E.
