This CMP replacement stock and handguards have very minor handling wear showing a few minor surface lines and some small compressions. There are no chips or cracks. The only notable wear is rub wear on the belly just behind the nose from the sling. Overall the wood is in Excellent condition. The buttplate similarly has almost no wear and is in Like New condition.

Finish Originality: Original, and refinished.
Bore Condition: The bore is bright, the rifling is sharp, there is no erosion in the bore. Our gauges show a muzzle reading of 10 and a throat erosion of less than 1. In this writer’s opinion the bore rates 10/10.
Overall Condition: The stock and butt plate are relatively new. The optics mount and optics are also both relatively new. The barrel, gas cylinder, receiver and bolt all appear to be refinished. The trigger group appears in Excellent condition and appears to be either refinished or it has been replaced with a group that was never used. The friction surfaces of the bolt and receiver show almost no rub wear. The metal surfaces show very little wear with only minor scattered rub marks and superficial lines. The majority of the lines are on the gas cylinder and lock. The screw heads are sharp and the markings are clear. Overall this rifle is in Excellent condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We have not fired this rifle. As with all previously owned firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.
Box, Paperwork & Accessories: This rifle includes the mounted optic, optic cover, brown leather sling, and Green CMP hard case.
Our Assessment: The M1 Garand, designed by Canadian-born John C. Garand and manufactured by Springfield Armory, holds an iconic place in American military history. Serving as the standard-issue rifle for the U.S. military during World War II and the Korean War, it was the first semi-automatic rifle to be generally issued to the infantry of any nation. Chambered in .30-06 Springfield, this gas-operated, rotating bolt rifle gave American troops a distinct advantage in firefights, allowing for a rate of fire that bolt-action rifles simply couldn’t match. The M1 Garand’s design was revolutionary for its time, with an internal magazine fed by an eight-round “en bloc” clip. The rifle automatically ejected the clip with a distinctive “ping” sound when empty, signaling the need for a reload. This sound became iconic, a signature auditory clue of the weapon’s presence on the battlefield. While the fixed magazine and clip system did present some limitations, they were largely outweighed by the rifle’s advantages in speed and firepower. Today, the M1 Garand is a coveted piece for collectors, competitive shooters, and history enthusiasts alike. It is often seen in vintage military shooting competitions and has become a popular choice for hunters who appreciate its historical significance. With its blend of innovative design, rugged reliability, and proven effectiveness, the M1 Garand is more than just a relic of the past; it’s a symbol of American ingenuity and the bravery of those who carried it into battle.
This example began its life in the mid 1950s and then was refinished and re-stocked by the Civilian Marksmanship Program sometime after 2013. This rifle has also had the unique modification of an added forward mounted scout style rail for the mounting of the Meprolight M21 reflex optic. This barrel despite being made in 1955 looks basically brand new. With the overall condition and especially the barrel condition this Garand should make an Excellent shooter. It will also add the opportunity to play with mounting modern optics on a WW2 era rifle. Please see our high quality photos via the link and best of luck with your bidding!!!-R.L.
