Action Type:  Semi-Automatic, hammer fired, single action pistol fed by detachable magazines with slide mounted ambi safety.

Sights / Optics: The front sight is a white dotted blade integral to the slide. The rear sight is a rectangular notch sight with two white dots dovetailed to the slide.   

Stock Configuration & Condition: The grips are two piece textured wood panels screw set to the frame. The wood shows scattered lines, compressions and small rub marks as well as some flattened texture. There are no chips or cracks. Overall the grips are in Very Good condition.   

Magazine Quantity & Condition: This pistol includes one 14 round magazine in Excellent condition. 

Type of Finish: Blued, Anodized Aluminum

Finish Originality: Original

Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is sharp. There is no erosion in the bore but there is some light fouling throughout. The feed ramp is smooth and shiny with minor carbon fouling. In this writer’s opinion the bore rates 9.25/10.  

Overall Condition:  This gun retains about 97% of its metal finish. There are light handling marks, wear to the leading edges, and light wear to the barrel hood. There is wear to the frame from the trigger bar. The magazine well shows some rub wear. The screws on the dust cover show rub wear around them. The markings are clear, the screw heads are sharp and the pins are clean. Overall this pistol is in Very Good condition. 

Mechanics: The action functions correctly.  We have not fired this pistol.  As with all used firearms, a cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance needs. 

Box, Paperwork & Accessories: Includes the magazine, manual, Walther patch, cable lock with key, jag, and Walther box with foam.  

Our Assessment: This Walther P88 Competition was manufactured circa 1994 and represents one of Walther’s most sophisticated service and competition-oriented pistols. Chambered in 9mm, the P88 was developed around a rugged alloy-frame design with a distinctive combination of modern features and Walther’s traditional emphasis on excellent trigger performance. The Competition model takes that concept further with an exceptionally refined single-action trigger, featuring an overtravel stop that eliminates unnecessary movement after the break and a remarkably short, crisp reset. These characteristics give the pistol a highly precise trigger that is particularly well suited to competitive shooting.

This example is fitted with attractive wood grips and includes a 14-round magazine, complementing the pistol’s refined appearance and competition-oriented configuration.
