Markings: The export mark on the left side of the receiver reads “GERMANY”. The left side of the receiver, left side of the barrel shank, and the top of the bolt handle are each marked with a German “eagle / N” proof mark. The barrel shank is marked with a “10 98” date code and a few other proofs including a Belgian Liege proof “crown / PV in an oval”. The bottom metal is marked with a number that does not correlate to the serial number. The bottom of the bolt handle is marked with 2 “eagle / 63” inspection stamps.
Barrel Length: Approximately 17 ½ Inches
Sights / Optics: The front sight is an inverted “V” post set atop a ramped base. The rear sight is a “V” notched blade attached to a sliding sight escalator assembly marked from “2-14”.
Stock Configuration & Condition: The hardwood stock has a pistol grip, scallop for the bolt handle, nosecap with bayonet lug, hole for the included cleaning rod, barrel band, 2 sling loops, through bolt, and a ribbed metal buttplate. The wood shows a few scapes & small scratches. The LOP measures 13 inches from the front of the trigger to the back of the buttplate. The stock rates in about Excellent overall condition.

Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is deep. There is no erosion.
Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 98% of its metal finish. The barrel shows scuffs & light scrapes. The magazine floor plate shows light discoloration. The metal shows other light handling marks. The screw heads are intact. Most of the markings are deep. Overall, this rifle rates in about Excellent condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We have not fired this rifle. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance requirements.
Box, Paperwork & Accessories: The rifle has a leather sling attached. It shows some creasing and a small area of soiling. It is in about Fine Plus condition. It also comes with an owner’s manual that shows light discoloration. It is in about Fine condition.
The rifle comes with paperwork detailing the purchase of the rifle and the work done to it. According to our consignor a Timney Trigger and Tubbs SpeedLock firing pin have been installed by a gunsmith. The paperwork and packaging included supports this. The original trigger and firing pin are included in the auction. They are stored in the packaging that came with the replacement parts. The paperwork and parts are in about Very Good Plus to Fine condition. Please see photos.
Our Assessment: This Commercial German Mauser was made in Germany back in 1998. At some point it was exported to Belgium and is marked with a Belgian proof on the barrel. It was later imported into the U.S. from Belgium and marketed as an “FN Model 1924 Police Carbine”. This Mauser Carbine is in Excellent condition. It looks great and has a strong bright bore. It has been upgraded with a Timney Trigger and Tubbs SpeedLock firing pin. This is a Nice German Mauser to add to your collection. Good luck.
