Sights / Optics: The front sight is a beaded blade dovetailed to a base fixed to the barrel. The rear sight is a flip up adjustable U notch sight dovetailed to a base fixed to the barrel. The top of the receiver is drilled and tapped.
Stock Configuration & Condition: The stock is one piece checkered high gloss walnut with a Monte Carlo comb with a cheekpiece, semi pistol grip, sling studs, rubber buttpad. The LOP measures approximately 13 .5″ from the front of the trigger to the back of the buttpad. There are scratches and compression marks throughout. There is a chip on the right side of the forend. There are no cracks. The checkering is well defined. The stock rates in about Very Good overall condition.

Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is sharp. There is no erosion in the bore. There is fouling in the grooves. In this writer’s opinion the bore rates 8 out of 10.
Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 97% of its metal finish.The balance of the finish shows handling and storage wear. There are spots of scratches and oxidation throughout. There are spots of surface rust freckling on the barrel. The markings are clear. The screw heads are sharp. Overall, this rifle rates in about Very Good condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We did not fire this rifle. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance requirements.

Our Assessment: The Browning High Power Safari is a classic Belgian sporting rifle from Browning’s FN Mauser-action era, combining refined European manufacture with American hunting-rifle styling. These rifles are well regarded for their smooth commercial Mauser actions, quality blued finish, walnut stocks, and practical field chamberings. This example was manufactured in 1968 and is chambered in .270 Winchester, a flat-shooting and versatile big-game cartridge suitable for deer, antelope, sheep, and similar North American game. It is configured with a 22” barrel, factory iron sights, drilled and tapped receiver, hinged internal magazine, and a high-gloss checkered walnut stock with Monte Carlo comb, cheekpiece, semi-pistol grip, sling studs, and rubber buttpad.
This Browning High Power Safari is in Very Good condition overall, retaining about 97% of its original blued metal finish with handling and storage wear, scattered scratches, oxidation, and surface rust freckling on the barrel. The stock rates in Very Good condition, showing scratches and compression marks throughout with a chip on the right side of the forend, but no cracks, and the checkering remains well defined. The bore is bright with sharp rifling, no erosion, and fouling in the grooves, rating 8 out of 10 in this writer’s opinion. The action functions correctly, the markings are clear, and the screw heads are sharp. This rifle should appeal to Browning collectors, FN Mauser enthusiasts, and hunters looking for a handsome C&R-eligible Belgian sporting rifle in the classic .270 Winchester chambering.
