JAN 19, 75” The bottom of the barrel, frame and butt of the frame are marked “195047” The loading gate is marked “804”

Sights / Optics: The front sight is a fixed blade. The rear sight is a groove in the top strap.

Stock Configuration & Condition: The grips are 2 checkered Colt vulcanized rubber grips. Both grips have Colts rampants on either side. The checkering is defined. There are some light scratches present. There are no chips or cracks. The grips rate in Excellent overall condition.

Type of Finish: Blue & Case Colored

Finish Originality: Refinished

Bore Condition: The bore is bright, the rifling is sharp. There is erosion and pitting present in the bore. In this writer’s opinion, the bore rates 7.5/10.

Overall Condition: This revolver retains about 95% of its metal finish. There are some faint handling marks present. There is some light finish wear on the leading edges. The screw heads are sharp. The markings are clear. This revolver rates in Excellent condition

Mechanics: The action functions correctly. The cylinder locks up securely with only minor play at each stop. The hammer cocks with positive engagement at each notch, and the trigger has a crisp break. We did not fire this revolver. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance requirements.

Our Assessment: The Colt Single Action Army is one of the most legendary firearms in history, widely recognized as the “Peacemaker” and a staple of the American West. This 1st Generation SAA, manufactured in 1900, represents a classic example of a working Colt revolver that has seen refinishing over the years but remains mechanically sound and highly collectible.

Although refinished and fitted with aftermarket grips, this revolver retains its charm and historical appeal. Many early SAAs were refinished during their lifetime as they were used extensively by cowboys, lawmen, and civilians alike. The bore remains in excellent condition, and the action is tight, making this a great piece for someone looking for an affordable shooter-grade 1st Gen Colt.
