Our Assessment: This Federal Ordnance M14A semi-automatic rifle is chambered in 7.62×51 NATO, built in the classic M14 pattern configuration. This rifle features a 22″ barrel fitted with the traditional M14-style flash hider and is housed in a standard M14 pattern stock, maintaining the familiar handling and appearance of the original service rifle. Federal Ordnance produced these civilian semi-automatic rifles to meet demand for the M14 platform after military rifles were no longer available for civilian sale.

The rifle is equipped with a Leatherwood scope mount and a 3-9×40 scope, providing a practical optic setup while retaining the rifle’s classic lines. It includes a 20-round magazine and offers the power and range capability associated with the 7.62×51 cartridge. Combining the traditional M14 profile with a functional optic setup, this M14A makes for a capable range rifle and a solid example of the civilian M14-style rifles produced during the post-service era of the platform.
