Overall, this rifle rates in about Very Good condition.

As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance requirements.

Our Assessment: The FN-49 is an iconic post-war battle rifle developed by Fabrique Nationale for various military contracts worldwide. It was one of the last great full-power, semi-automatic rifles before the advent of select-fire battle rifles like the FN FAL. Built with precision machining and a robust design, the FN-49 saw service in several countries, including Venezuela, which was one of the primary users of the 7mm Mauser variant.
The rifle’s 7mm Mauser chambering makes it an excellent choice for collectors and shooters alike, offering both historical significance and a flat-shooting, effective cartridge. The internal magazine, adjustable rear sight, and overall solid build quality exemplify FN’s excellence in firearm manufacturing during the mid-20th century.
For collectors of military surplus rifles, the FN-49 holds a significant place as a transitional design between World War II-era semi-autos and later select-fire rifles. This example, in Very Good condition with a strong bore and original finish, would make a fine addition to any military collection or vintage rifle lineup.
