Our Assessment: This is a Husqvarna manufactured Nagant Model 1887 Revolver chambered for 7.5mm Swiss Nagant rounds. The Model 1887 Revolver was designed by the famous Belgian weapon designer Leon Nagant for service with the Swedish Army. While the Liege based firm Fabrique d’armes Émile et Léon Nagant provided a shipment of the new revolvers to the Swedish military, the country also instituted domestic production with Husqvarna manufacturing the majority of the guns. Curiously, Husqvarna production began with 350 revolvers for Norway in 1897, but by 1898 production was for the Swedish armed forces with 5,400 produced in this year.
This is a particularly early Husqvarna Model 1887 Revolver, serial 170. It was at one point issued to the Landstorm, likely after the M1887 was replaced in 1907 by Husqvarna’s autoloading pistol. The gun is in tremendous condition for its age and service, retaining all matching numbered parts. You’ll be hard pressed to find a better example of the Husqvarna 1887 if you’re looking to add one to your collection. Please see our photos and good luck!
