Action Type: Semi-Auto, direct Impingement, fed by AR pattern magazines. This rifle has been fitted with a compliant state magazine lock that requires the upper and lower to be partially separated to release the magazine. This feature can be removed and a regular magazine release installed.  

Markings: The left side of the receiver is marked “DANIEL / DEFENSE BLACK CREEK, GA / U.S.A. / M4 CARBINE / CAL. 5.56MMM / AJB01430”. Marked “SAFE” and “FIRE” next to the safety selector. The right side of the bolt carrier group is marked “DD” and the right side of the receiver is marked “FIRE” and “SAFE”. The right side of the handguard is marked, “DANIEL DEFENSE, INC. BLACK CREEK, GA. USA OMEGAX 12.0 PATENT PENDING”. Most of the furniture is marked “MAGPUL”. The VFG is marked “TANGODOWN”. The left side of the upper receiver, rail mount qd cup and the QD cup endplate are marked “DANIEL DEFENSE”. 

Barrel Length: 16.25″ threaded 1/2×28, 18″ with the A2 style flash hider. 

Sights / Optics: The rifle is fitted with an 18″ picatinny rail fore mounting optics, sights and accessories. Currently mounted are a set of polymer Magpul flip up back up iron sights.   

Stock Configuration & Condition: The furniture set includes a 12″ quad rail forend fitted with a vertical foregrip, QD cups, a rail mount QD cup, and ladder style rail covers. The pistol grip is a Magpul MOE grip and the collapsible stock is a MAGPUL MOE stock with rubber butt pad. The length of pull at full extension is 13.75″. The buffer tube shows some rub wear from the stock. The rubber butt pad has a small scratch on the lower right hand side. The lower picatinny rail has some marks from attachments. The polymer surfaces show some handling with no notable marks. Overall the furniture set is in Very Good+ condition.   

Magazine Quantity & Condition: Includes three total Magpul magazines. One FDE 30 round, one black 10 round, and one black 30 round. The two black magazines show some minor handling and use. The FDE magazine is in Like New condition.      

Type of Finish: Black with FDE furniture. 

Finish Originality: Original. 

Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is sharp. There is no visible erosion in the bore. The feed ramps are smooth and shiny showing minor copper marks. The muzzle device shows some minor carbon fouling and verdigris. The case deflector shows only minor brass marks. In this writer’s opinion the bore rates 9/10.

Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 98% of its finish. There are a few minor scattered marks like the ones on the rail and some marks around the ejection port. The receivers show some surface level lines in the finish. The screw heads are sharp and the pins are unmarred. The markings are clear. Overall, this rifle rates in about Very Good+ condition.

Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We did not fire this rifle. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance requirements.

Box, Paperwork & Accessories: The three magazines, three magazine covers, Two qd sling swivels, foam lined hard case and cardboard box. 

Our Assessment: This Daniel Defense DDM4 V2 Fixed Magazine rifle is chambered in 5.56 NATO and features a 16.25″ barrel fitted with an A2 flash hider. The rifle is equipped with Magpul MOE furniture, including a pistol grip and stock, along with a 12-inch quad rail forend that provides ample space for accessory mounting. The DDM4 V2 is known for its durable construction and adherence to mil-spec standards, making it a reliable modern sporting rifle platform.

This example has been fitted with a compliant state magazine locking device that requires partial separation of the upper and lower receivers to release the magazine, in accordance with restrictive jurisdiction requirements. This feature is reversible, and the rifle can be returned to a standard magazine release configuration where legally permitted. Overall, it represents a solid and well-equipped example of a factory Daniel Defense rifle with practical compliance modifications.
