Our Assessment: The Dan Wesson Model 7445 in .445 SuperMag is a powerful large-frame revolver designed primarily for long-range handgun shooting, particularly in silhouette competitions and hunting applications. This example, with the ETG prefix before the serial number, suggests the revolver was one of the limited edition pistols commissioned by Elgin T. Gates, the pioneer behind the SuperMag series of cartridges, including the .445 SuperMag.
With its 8-inch vent rib heavy barrel, this Model 7445 offers excellent stability, reduced recoil, and superior accuracy, making it well-suited for precision shooting at extended ranges. The stainless steel finish enhances durability and corrosion resistance, making it a practical choice for field use. The .445 SuperMag cartridge is essentially a lengthened .44 Magnum, providing increased velocity and energy while maintaining compatibility with shorter .44 Mag and .44 Special rounds. Like other Dan Wesson revolvers, the Model 7445 features an interchangeable barrel system, allowing customization of barrel length and configuration. Highly regarded by collectors and shooters alike, this revolver remains a standout in the realm of high-powered handguns.
