Our Assessment: The Sa vz.61 Skorpion is a Czechoslovakian submachine gun designed in the late 1950s by Miroslav Rybár and produced by the Ceská zbrojovka company. It is a compact weapon that was designed for use by military personnel, special forces, and law enforcement. The Skorpion was first introduced in 1961 and saw widespread use in conflicts around the world, including the Vietnam War and various conflicts in the Middle East.
The Skorpion has a distinctive appearance, with its small size and the long, curved magazine that protrudes from the bottom of the grip. It is chambered for the .32 ACP (7.65mm Browning) cartridge, which is a relatively low-powered round, but its compact size and light weight make it highly maneuverable in close quarters. The weapon features a folding stock that folds over the top of the receiver and sits around the barrel that gives it its almost unmistakable appearance. This Sa vz.61 is a faithful semi-automatic pistol rendition of the original Skorpion and deserves a place in any collection.
