Our Assessment: This CZ Shadow 2 is a competition-oriented 9mm pistol introduced as an evolution of CZ’s successful Shadow platform. This 2024 example features a 4.5-inch barrel, 17-round magazines, blue aluminum grips, and a red fiber optic front sight. Its low-profile slide is designed to reduce reciprocating mass, allowing the pistol to return quickly to target during rapid fire, while the ambidextrous manual safety provides positive control for either hand. The Shadow 2’s heavy steel frame gives it excellent stability making it particularly well suited to practical shooting disciplines.
The pistol is equipped with an exceptionally smooth DA/SA trigger, combining a manageable double-action first pull with a crisp single-action pull for precise shooting. The Shadow 2 was developed with direct input from competitive shooters and builds on CZ’s extensive competition pedigree, with its design emphasizing fast transitions, controllability, and accuracy. The combination of the reduced-mass slide, ergonomic aluminum grips, fiber optic sight, and refined trigger makes the Shadow 2 one of CZ’s most accomplished competition pistols.
