Our Assessment: The Schützen Martini-Henry is a precision target rifle rooted in the rich tradition of German and Swiss Schützen shooting competitions. “Schützen” refers to marksmen, and the term is closely associated with a long-standing cultural practice in central Europe, where shooting competitions with high-quality, finely tuned rifles have been an integral part of civic pride and tradition for centuries. The Martini-Henry action, initially designed as a military firearm in the mid-to-late 19th century, was adapted in these civilian target rifles for precision shooting. The set trigger mechanism of this rife is finely tuned for a light, crisp break to allow the shooter to release shots with minimal movement.. Schützen Martini-Henry rifles were used extensively in traditional shooting festivals, which were a blend of sport and social gatherings. These festivals had deep roots in the history of European shooting culture, and owning a high-quality rifle like a Schützen Martini-Henry was a source of pride. This particular rifle is in fantastic shape. The action is smooth, and the set triggers function correctly. The Junertal scope is a great addition to this rifle. Overall this rifle would be a fantastic choice for those that want a beautiful collectors item, or a functional schützen Martini-Henry for competition.
