Our Assessment: This is a Remington Model 722 that has been set up for target shooting. Remington, like many other gunmakers, had nearly completely ceased production of commercial rifles during WWII to focus on the war effort. They learned valuable lessons during the war about how to produce large volumes of rifles while retaining the quality needed for a rifle that you can trust your life to. After the war, they put these lessons to good use, and the Models 721 and 722 were the result. The receiver was made of bar stock so it could be turned on a lathe, thus cutting the time and cost compared to their earlier milled Model 30. The 722 had everything you needed, nothing you didn’t and despite being inexpensive to manufacture, was nonetheless reliable, durable, and accurate. Many of the innovations of the Model 721 & 722 would go through further refinements which resulted in the world-famous Model 700. This one has been fitted with a custom aftermarket 26″ barrel chambered for 6mm BR. It has also been topped with a Leupold BR 36x scope. This will be an awesome rifle for target shooting and will also be a nice varmint rifle. Please see our photos and good luck!
