Mechanics: The action functions correctly. The trigger is an aftermarket Timney trigger, and it has a light, crisp and clean break, with an average pull weight of 1 pound 12 ounces. We did not fire this rifle, but we did perform a mechanic’s check. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance requirements.
Box, Paperwork & Accessories: This rifle comes with the extra muzzle brake as mentioned above.
Our Assessment: The Remington Model 700 has long served as a foundation for precision and dangerous game builds alike, prized for its cylindrical receiver, strong locking system, and widespread aftermarket support. Chambered here in .338 Remington Ultra Magnum, one of Remington’s most powerful proprietary magnum cartridges introduced in 2000, this platform delivers exceptional velocity and long-range authority in a true heavy-hitting configuration. The cartridge was engineered to rival and exceed traditional magnums such as the .338 Winchester Magnum, offering flat trajectory and tremendous energy for large North American game and beyond. This example has been elevated with a 25 inch Krieger barrel and a McMillan fiberglass stock, creating a serious custom hunting rifle built for durability and performance.
This rifle retains approximately 98 percent of its matte black finish with only minor handling marks and light operational wear on the bolt. The bore is bright with sharp rifling and rates 10 out of 10 in this writer’s opinion. The McMillan stock has been professionally bedded and remains tight to the action with only minor cosmetic wear. It is fitted with a Decelerator pad and bottom rail, and includes both a 3-port muzzle brake and an additional T3 Terminator 5-port brake. The Timney trigger breaks exceptionally clean at an average pull weight of 1 pound 12 ounces, contributing to a refined shooting experience. The action functions correctly.
