Sights / Optics: The front sight is a white beaded blade with a protective hood. The rear sight is a fixed V notch.
Stock Configuration & Condition: The stock is a 1 piece High Grade Walnut stock, fluted raised comb, rubber buttpad, checkered and rosewood capped semi pistol grip, checkered and rosewood capped forend. The LOP is 13.5” from the front of the trigger to the back of the buttpad. There are faint scratches on the stock. There are no cracks or chips. The stock rates in Excellent Overall condition.

Bore Condition: The bore is semi bright, the rifling is well defined. There is light erosion and heavy lead fouling in the barrel. The bore rates 7/10.
Overall Condition: This Rifle retains about 97% of its metal finish. There are light scratches on the receiver and barrel. There is operational wear on the bolt and chamber. The markings are clear. Overall, this rifle rates in Excellent Overall condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We did not fire this rifle. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance requirements.

Our Assessment: The Winchester Model 70 is a bolt-action sporting rifle. It has an iconic place in American sporting culture and has been held in high regard by shooters since it was introduced in 1936, earning the moniker “The Rifleman’s Rifle”. The action has some design similarities to Mauser designs and it is a development of the earlier Winchester Model 54, itself being based on a Mauser 98–type action. This rifle has high grade walnut and rosewood accents making this a beautiful rifle. This rifle has been rechambered for the powerful .375 WBY Magnum. The bore has some erosion and stubborn fouling but with a thorough deep cleaning this rifle will be an accurate and reliable rifle for many years.
