Sights / Optics: The front sight is a Lyman white beaded blade dovetailed to the front of the barrel. The rear sight is a “V”-notch semi-buckhorn elevator sight dovetailed to the barrel; the notch is fine-adjustable for elevation. The top tang is drilled, tapped, and filled to accept a tang sight (none present), the fill screw appears to be a mounting screw from a previously installed tang sight, the stock mounting screw is not original to the gun.

Stock Configuration & Condition: The stocks are 2-piece smooth walnut with capped forend, capped pistol grip, straight comb and steel crescent buttplate. There are sling eyelets in the belly and nosecap. The wrist has just a hint of checkering on the right toward the bottom of the grip. The right of the wrist has four small circular, progressively deeper dings, the left has only one. The buttstock has scattered finish loss. There are some scattered nicks, scuffs and scratches. There is a more notable ding in the right-rear of the forend. There are no chips or cracks. The LOP measures 13″ from the front of the trigger to the back of the buttplate. The plate has mostly worn to white with some strong finish in the tang, scattered light oxidation and infrequent minor erosion. Overall, the stocks are in Good-plus condition as partially refinished and not original to the gun.

Type of Finish: Blue

Finish Originality: Original to the parts. The barrel assembly may not be original to the receiver.

Bore Condition: The bore is gray with well defined rifling. There is evenly scattered light erosion in the bore. In this writer’s opinion, the bore rates about 6 out of 10.

Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 40% of its metal finish. The finish is thinning at all edges. The barrel and magazine have generally strong finish with some scattered light wear. The receiver is mostly worn to white with a little finish in protected areas. There is some minor oxidation, mostly in the worn areas. There are some scattered nicks, scuffs and scratches. The action shows operational wear. The screw heads range from sharp to tool marked with usable slots. The markings are clear. Overall, this rifle is in Good condition as customized.

Mechanics: The action functions properly. There is a lever-safety and a half-cock hammer position. We did not fire this rifle. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.

Box, Paperwork & Accessories: None.
